tance of all races from Adam. One of the most wonderful theological passages in the Bible is Romans 5: 12-21. You ask: “Did Mary contrib ute of her sinful nature, or did God bar the transmission of sin from her son?” In Luke 1, at the time of the announcement to Mary by the angel Gabriel, it was made clear that God actually did bar sin from the birth. Mary wanted to know how this would all come about seeing she was still a virgin. The all-important passage is Luke 1 :35, “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee.” Who can begin to fathom this birth. This is final! It is a declarative statement of God. “The power of the Highest shall over shadow thee.” Because of these two things, the Holy Spirit coming upon her, and being now over-shadowed by the power of the highest, it is stated, “That holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” From Genesis to the book of Revelation there is no other person bom in the human family who has ever been characterized as “that holy thing.” This was Christ’s sinless hu man nature. Did Mary contribute her sinful nature? No, God overruled it. It would have been impossible. You ask, “Well couldn’t He have barred the sins of two human parents just as well as one?” This is not a matter of the power of God. It’s a matter of the purpose of God! We believe in the absolute impeccability of Christ, that He was absolutely sinless and completely incapable of sin. Q. Santa Monica, Calif. — “Who is head of the family? Who comes first, family or God? This has to be settled in our marriage.” A. Space permits relating only cer tain basic principles. We know that there are always extenuating circum stances involved. God must always come first in the home. He it is who first ordained the home and the fam

be born again. Judas was an eternity away. We have a concern for every heart and home. Don’t be satisfied to have your name on a church roll. Be sure you are personally trusting Christ as Saviour! Q. Tacoma, Wash. — "Should we work against the coming world church, knowing it has been prophesied in the Bible? Shouldn’t we rather be glad to see this coming?” A. We believe we should work against the world church with all of our might. While we know it is going to come, yet we can still look up and know that our redemption draweth nigh. We are not so much working against the coming world church as we are working to keep Christians from getting enmeshed in its evil sys tem. We want to warn people about the dangers of wasting their time and money in supporting this unscrip- tural idea. It is alarming and fright ening to consider some of the things the World Council is advocating. We do not support this movement in any sense of the word. We should warn Christians against the evils of it. Q. Long Beach, Calif. — “Why do we need to believe in the virgin birth in order to separate Christ’s human ity from the sinfulness which is the inheritance of all of the races from Adam (Rom. 12)? After all, this is only half of the matter. The influ ence of the mother exceeds that of the father during the period of ges tation, according to some doctors. Did Mary contribute of her sinful nature or did God bar the transmission of sin from her to her son? I f so, why couldn’t He have barred the trans mission from two huamn parents as well as just one?” A. The virgin birth was necessary in order to have a sinless Saviour. We need to believe in it in order to separate Christ’s humanity from the sinful nature which is the inheri
