PROJECT PROFILE
NI FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT COLLEGE, COOKSTOWN
FENCING A package including perimeter fencing, gates and high- security fencing was installed by Kane Fencing at NI Fire & Rescue Service’s new Learning & Development College in Cookstown. The project saw the fencing contractor reuniting with main contractor Felix O’Hare, with which it has worked on numerous previous projects, and progressed without any hitches. Ciarán Tally of Kane Fencing said, “We were delighted to assist Felix O’Hare in securing this facility, where we installed gas compound enclosures, bespoke store gates, profile mesh fence and gates around the Call-Out Village, and 3m high SR1 358 mesh to the perimeter of the amazing flood water rescue area. “What an incredible facility we will have in our local area, helping to train our first responders. We look forward to working with Felix O’Hare again in the future to deliver more exciting projects.” A leading high security fencing contractor in the UK and Ireland, Kane Fencing has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry and offers incomparable service delivery, enhanced by a growing portfolio of products and services.
SCAFFOLDING
Sperrin Scaffolding
Ltd provided the support structure
allowing construction to get safely underway across the multi- building campus of NI Fire & Rescue Service’s Learning & Development College. Representing a
major project for the Magherafelt-based contractor, it was on
site in the first stages of the build in early 2023, setting up an extensive range of scaffolding to support construction of its main training building, mock fire station and call-out village.
Gerry Kelly, Director, said, “We were asked to provide edge protection for installation of floor slabs on all elevations and all levels, and also access scaffold to all exterior and interior works and for all trades. “It was great to be involved in such an interesting and varied project, which has created a unique facility aimed at enhancing the safety and effectiveness of the emergency response services. “We were pleased to support main contractor Felix O’Hare and the many sub-contractors working on this project in getting it safely off the ground.”
