THE OCTABUILD BUILDERS’ MERCHANT EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2024 CELEBRATED THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY, RECOGNISING INNOVATION AND OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT ACROSS IRELAND… Highlighting exceptional standards and commitment to innovation

Builders’ merchants from across Northern Ireland and Ireland gathered at the Mansion House in Dublin on October 17 for the Octabuild Builders’ Merchant Excellence Awards 2024. Hosted by Octabuild’s eight member companies — Dulux, Etex, Glennon Brothers, Grant Engineering, Gyproc, Irish Cement, Kingspan Insulation and Wavin — the event celebrated the very best in the builders’ merchant industry. Over 250 guests attended the gala evening, which honoured merchants’ achievements in excellence, innovation and leadership. Since their inception in 1986, the Octabuild Awards have been a hallmark of excellence in the construction sector. This year’s event marked only the second occasion that the awards were held on an all-island basis, bringing together participants from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. In total, 11 awards were presented, including four regional awards, five individual category awards, the Rising Star Award and the prestigious Octabuild Lifetime Achievement Award. The Northern Ireland builders’ merchant sector had plenty to celebrate, with notable wins highlighting the exceptional standards and commitment to innovation demonstrated by local businesses. Merchants competed in categories that spanned key areas such as sustainability, customer service, business management and community outreach, showcasing the industry’s adaptability in an ever- changing landscape. Declan Conlon, Chair of Octabuild, said, “It’s important to Octabuild that the Awards highlight the excellence of Irish builders’ merchants to the building and construction industry amidst its ever- changing landscape. Congratulations to all finalists and winners from all over

the country who represent absolute excellence in the industry.” One of the highlights of the evening was recognition of the Rising Star Award winner, who represents the next generation of talent in the builders’ merchant trade. The awards also celebrated a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, whose career has significantly contributed to the industry’s growth and success.
