Connolly & Fee, an award-winning construction company based in Coalisland, Co Tyrone, has completed a landmark project in Strabane, delivering modern educational facilities for Gaelscoil Uí Dhochartaigh. Established in 1970, the company has over five decades of experience in civil engineering and building projects across public and private sectors, earning a strong reputation for excellence. Tasked with creating a new seven- class primary school and a standalone nursery, Connolly & Fee worked closely with the board of governors of Gaelscoil
Uí Dhochartaigh and the Department of Education to meet the needs of the school’s growing community. This £7.2m project, funded through the Department of Education’s Major Capital Works Programme, will accommodate 170 pupils in facilities designed to enhance the learning experience for young people being educated through the medium of Irish. The project featured several innovative elements, including landscaped play spaces, a Kingzip roof, curtain walling, stone cladding, coloured render and bilingual signage. The design prioritised
functionality and aesthetics, providing an inspiring and welcoming environment for children and staff alike. As with any major construction project, this one came with its challenges. Situated on a greenfield site at the edge of town, the development required the creation of new access points, as well as improvements to the surrounding roads and footpaths.
