“We have to move to the next fights. We’re always busy. We’ve got fights coming up. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is what I live for. This isn’t work.” His journey began in late January as he accompanied Mizuki Hiruta and Jose Armando Resendiz to the Ring Magazine Awards Gala, where Resendiz was recognized for his Upset of the Year against Caleb Plant and Hiruta accepted her honors as the 2025 Women’s Fighter of the Year. The reigning Ring/WBO junior bantamweight champion has become one of the true feel-good stories in the sport. Robles says, “I’m very proud [of Mizuki]. I couldn’t be happier for her, with her struggle, everything that she’s been through to get to this point. Who would’ve imagined that a little bit over a year ago she didn’t have a promoter. She came to the U.S. with hopes of getting signed to a promoter, searching for the American dream. We got her signed to Tom Loeffler and 360 Promotions. I want to thank Tom for everything he’s done for Mizuki.

T here was no rest for the weary, or for Manny Robles, who after touching down back in the States on February 9 was back at the Knockouts Boxing Facility the next day. The previous 10 days had seen him travel to New York City to watch two of his boxers pick up coveted awards, hit Las Vegas to watch another of his charges win a crucial fight, then fly to Liverpool, England to aid Brandon Figueroa in recapturing a world title. Now it was back to work for Robles, who has a new cycle of bouts to prepare for in the upcoming weeks and months. This is the life of a world-class trainer. “It’s been fun. It’s been great,” said Robles on the morning of Wednesday, February 11. “I just got off the plane, basically, dealing with jet lag. But I’m excited to be back in town, in Los Angeles. I’m obviously happy for the results. You know what they say: You win the fights in the gym.
