Member handbook and quality assurance framework

- Be proactive and responsive in their communications with their mentor - It is expected that the Instructor- Member-In-Training will respond to communications from their mentor as soon as possible, and at the latest within five working days - Where the mentee is on holiday or uncontactable for long periods of time (over one month), they should set an out of office outlining the expected response time - Provide the mentor with all their learner feedback and detailed self-reflections on their two co-deliveries via the Instructor Portfolio

Mentoring activities and conversations should be conducted at mutually convenient times for both the mentor and mentee. Informal mentor/mentee conversations should be a reasonable length and frequency for both the mentor and mentee. A formal mentoring session should not exceed one hour in duration. We recommend agreeing a set duration and topics/focus of conversation that you need to cover within this allocated time in advance. If a National Trainer cannot continue with their mentoring commitments due to exceptional circumstances, they should first contact the Training Delivery team.

9. Reflecting on course and programme deliveries

All members are required to reflect on each course or programme they deliver and record their reflections on their delivery performance. These reflections help support improvements in delivery practice. Where a course or programme is co- delivered, all members must complete a co-delivery evaluation reflecting on their experience of co-delivering with their peer. MHFA England also advises members to review any learner evaluation feedback and comments they receive. This will help identify any areas of development and inform your annual self-assessment of learning needs.

Reflecting on delivery performance and identifying areas of strength and development opportunities are key to demonstrating commitment to and management of your own learning and improvement. For further guidance on reviewing and reflecting on learner evaluation feedback, please see the Guidance for responding to learner feedback that you can access from the Instructor Member Development Programme section of your dashboard.
