MEET YOUR FUTURE VOLUNTEER LEADERS
Spencer Quinn Quinn Company
Spencer is Executive Vice President and a fourth-generation owner of Quinn Company—a heavy equipment dealership that was founded by his great grandfather in the Central Valley in 1919 to serve the farmers. In his role today he oversees the company’s core business operations across Central and Southern California. Prior to joining the family business, Spencer worked for the International Harvester company between Chicago and Dallas in the areas of marketing and sales. He then moved to the country of Panama and worked for a Caterpillar dealership much like his family’s business. After two years, he left Panama with professional fluency in Spanish and returned to Chicago for graduate school. He has his bachelor’s of science from the University of Southern California and his MBA from Kellogg at Northwestern. In 2016 he joined the family business where he has since been working alongside his brother and dad.
Here’s a picture of our team hosting some of our customers at the Caterpillar bulldozer factory. It’s always fun to see what goes into the design and build of this equipment that gets put to the test in harsh environments and contributes to building and feeding the communities we live in.
I count my parents and siblings as some of my best friends. We come together often for meals, shared hobbies and family vacations.
Lately I have gotten into spearfishing with some friends. I have always loved wild places and I am discovering that the ocean is a great underwater wilderness. Jumping into the deep blue is always exhilarating. There are no fences in the ocean so anything can show up!
In a addition to some close family and friends, my dog Tia is also a favorite hunting companion. She was born on my uncle’s cattle ranch in Wyoming and we brought her to California when we were given pick of the litter.
I love to spend time with family and I love to spend time hunting. Here’s me combining the two with my brother and I taking my nephew out duck hunting for his very first time.
I like to play cowboy from time to time. Here’s a picture of me and my dad donning our cold weather riding gear and gathering cattle before a branding in Idaho.
Spencer is one of nine individuals selected to be in Class VII of the Future Volunteer Leaders, a program that guides the next generation of leaders within Western Growers member companies interested in becoming more informed and effective advocates for the fresh produce industry.
