T his year’s ski-racing season began with the team flying out to compete in the Canada Cup for the fifth time, with this year being our most triumphant year yet. The tour began with seven days of training by excellent local coaches and Mr Wheble, which included practice for both the slalom and giant slalom races. During these few days, there was a huge amount of improvement throughout the group, which then led us on to the largest medal haul in Dulwich history at the Canada Cup, with the team collecting a grand total of nine individual medals, including first place in the U14 team Giant Slalom and second in the U14 and Open Slalom competitions. In the U18 category, our seasoned veterans Louis Wright and Fernando de la Infiesta, raced brilliantly to first and second place in both the Slalom and GS and therefore the combined as well. Two other great individual performances include Jack Nunn and Hamish Ellis. Hamish Ellis skied brilliantly to come sixth in GS, fifth in Slalom and fifth overall, despite being two school years below some of his competitors, while Jack Nunn finished second in both the Slalom and GS, and hence claimed the U14 overall title. The next competition saw Dulwich visit Switzerland for the British School Boys’ championships. With only four days of skiing including the two race days, the team had substantially less time to prepare for the races. The races kick-started with Jimmy Shepherd taking silver in the U14 unregistered category. Despite slightly buckling in the Slalom, with excellent Giant Slalom racing Jack Nunn propelled himself up the leader board. In the U16s, Noah Smith skied solidly, putting himself in bronze position for the overall unregistered category. In the U18s, Ethan Smith claimed an overall gold with an incredibly well rounded two days of racing. He was followed by Louis Wright, who skied into third after an excellent Slalom performance. However, this was not the end of the College’s success. Dulwich’s U18 team were rewarded with gold in the overall unregistered category, due to the consistent, solid skiing of
