School crossing guard program 2024-25 update • Five new locations implemented in September 2024 bringing us to a total of 124 locations City-wide. • Continued use of the exposure index warrant method to make data drive decisions with implementing SCGs. • 65 health and safety inspections completed to date (2025) • Continued progress on upgrading all SCG locations to ladder cross walks (68 per cent) School zone safety • Completed the Safer School Zone Plan (SSZP) and actively working on implementing recommendations. • Developing internal guideline to standardize school zone assessments (both new and existing) drawing from recommendations of the SSZP. • A recommendation of the SSZP was to expand the Vaughan AST program. Expanded to four new schools in September 2024, and actively seeking new schools for the 2025-2026 school year. • Relaunched the Transportation Youth Ambassador program for secondary school students in collaboration with IPCAM.
