Curb Boxes: Water shut off and turn on requests

As requested

Non-emergency requests must be submitted four to six weeks before the shutoff or turn on is required (fees apply). Environmental Services will perform a complimentary curb box inspection if requested at least two weeks before work begins. All City-owned hydrants are inspected annually, and after each use, in accordance with the Ontario Fire Code. City hydrants are painted entirely yellow in colour and are repainted every five years. Residents may notice City of Vaughan vehicles parked in front of sampling stations and/or hydrants on their streets to conduct sampling and testing. The City does not conduct sampling and testing through private plumbing as the City is responsible for the cold water in the distribution system only. Water is run from hydrants to keep the drinking water moving and assist in mitigating potential water quality issues.
