2025 SeasonalGuide [WEB]

Thornhill Pressure Reduction Project The City is taking steps to improve water service in Thornhill by installing two new pressure regulating valves (PRVs) – one on Yonge Street (just south of Highway 407) and another on Edmund Seager Drive (west of Atkinson Avenue). These PRVs will help lower historically high water pressure in the area, bringing several key benefits: • Fewer watermain breaks: Lower pressure reduces stress on pipes, helping prevent costly and disruptive breaks. • Reducing non-revenue water: Reducing pressure can help minimize undetected leaks, saving water and improving efficiency. • Protecting infrastructure during construction: With major work planned for the Yonge North Subway Extension, managing water pressure will help keep the system stable. This proactive approach will help extend the life of our water system and ensure safe, sustainable service for the community.
