restaurants is no more. After 45 years of operation, the Laurier Street eatery closed its doors at the end of July. The restaurant underwent an important transformation and reopened under a new name: Dunn’s Famous. A Montréal institution for the past 75 years, Dunn’s Famous is well-known among smoke- meat lovers. Legendary Smoked Smeat After coming to Canada from Europe with his family at the beginning of the 20th century to start a new life, Myer Dunn opened his first restaurant in 1927. Following the success of the first restaurant, he opened a second location in 1948. In 1955, he decided against the worries expressed by his entourage to open 24 hours a day. The founder died in 1993, but the company continues to grow. The new restaurant opened August 18. The opening was long anticipated by the local community. More than 450 people showed up on opening day. “People were very excited to try our new menu, especially our famous

Bill and Mike Mahfouz, two brothers of Lebanese origin who are part of the Rockland business scene since 1988, wish to remind their regular clients that their favourite items like pizza, fresh home-made pasta and sea food, are still on the menu. They can also choose from the all day breakfast menu, and famous home- made desserts: cheese, carrot or chocolate cakes and the delicious apple pie. “We have clients that have been coming here for the past 25 years,” says Bill. “They will always be welcome in a friendly, family atmosphere”. The owners are proud also of the support of their loyal and devoted employees. Rockland new Dunn’s Famous is located at 2370 Laurier Street. The restaurant can welcome 110 clients in the dining room and 40 in the beautiful outside patio.
