He says; “the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). 8. Do we need some power to keep our souls from destruction? “My sheep . . shall never perish,” He promises, “neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:27, 28). 9. Do we need anything that He can not supply? “Blessed be the God and Fa ther of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ" (Eph. 1:3). Golden Text Illustration Often those who .quietly “went about doing good,” have received no honor or recognition for their service. The Colum bus Dispatch calls attention to one of these cases : “At the funeral of a prominent Colum bus physician, his family was not a little startled and perplexed at the number of floral offerings from persons unknown to them, and the presence of a large group of evidently poverty-ridden men and women who came unobtrusively and left the same way. “The deceased had built up a modest for tune and, it was believed, had given up active practice some time before. Yet, in spite of failing health, he always appeared busy and was away from his home a great deal of the time. The cause of these ab sences remained unexplained until a shab bily dressed woman, sobbing her grief, halted a moment at his bier and said : ‘The poor will miss him.’ “Thus was explained the manner in which he had spent his declining years. He had turned a large and lucrative prac tice over to others and had built up a larger one from which he could never hope to gain a cent financially. No one but he and those he aided knew.” Jesus Our Best Friend R e v ie w Memory Verse : “We love him, because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Lesson 1. “How Jesus Kept the Sab bath.” Jesus kept the Sabbath by doing good. Lesson 2. “The Glad Surprise.” Jesus rose from the dead that we too might rise. Lesson 3. “A Boy’s Good Father.” God forgives us w h e n K j 's . l Who Said Thank You.” H a v e we thanked God for curing us of the disease of sin? Lesson 6. “How Two Men Prayed.” Prayer is telling God how much we love Him, thanking Him for what He has done for us, and asking for what we need. Lesson 7. “A Visit from Jesus.” Seek ing Jesus made Zaccheus a different man. Lesson 8. “A Gift That Pleased Jesus.” Jesus wants us to give our all. Lesson 9. “The Supper Jesus Gave His Friends.” Jesus showed that He was the Passover Lamb. Lesson 10. “When Jesus Prayed in the Garden.” Jesus was able to pray, “Thy will be done.” Lesson 11. “When Jesus Died for Us.” Jesus died because He chose to die for us. [Continued on page 204] we are sorry for our sins and return to Him. Lesson 4. “Jesus’ Story of a Beggar Man.” There is a time when it is too late to be sorry about our sins. Lesson 5. “A Man

7-23). This lesson contained the record of the last meal taken by our Lord with His disciples. The Passover commemorated the nation’s deliverance from Egypt, and re minded the Hebrew people of the blood which protected them from judgment. The Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of our Lord’s Person, particularly in His charac ter as the Lamb of God taking away sin. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated by wit nessing to His death, worshiping His Per son, and waiting for His coming ; thus there is to be a backward look, an upward look, and a forward look. Lesson 10. “Jesus in Gethsemane” (Lk. 22:39-53). Our Lord gave direction for constant prayer as the guard against enter ing into temptation. He dedicated Himself to the will of God, considering that will as being the highest good, whatever it might entail for Himself. He gave Himself in full submission to His enemies, knowing Himself to be in the hands of God rather than in the power of those who sought to crucify Him. Lesson 11. “Jesus Crucified” (Lk. 23 : 33-46). Those gathered at the cross repre sented all classes and conditions ; and all groups except the little company of His followers united in deriding our Lord. Even the two thieves railed upon Him, but one thief was saved at the last moment by simple faith in the Lord. The completion of the crucifixion came when our Lord of His own volition “gave up the ghost” and committed His spirit to God. Lesson 12. “Jesus Exalted” (Lk. 24: 36*53). Before our Lord ascended into heaven, He gave His disciples needed in struction concerning the Scriptures and concerning themselves. He left them a promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit, instructing them to wait for “the promise of my Father” before attempting to ful fill their mission on earth. Finally, He as cended from them into heaven to take His place at the right hand of Almighty God until the clock of God shall strike the hour for His return to His saved ones and to thé world. Points and Problems This final review lesson is entitled “Jesus Meeting Human Needs.” What are some of the deepest needs of the human heart ? 1. Do we need a way to reach the infi nite God? “I am the way . . . ,” our Lord says; “no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). 2. Do we need an entrance into the fold of salvation? “I am the door," He says; “by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved” (John 10:9). 3. Do we need spiritual and moral light? “I am the light of the world,” He says; “he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness” (John 8:12). 4. Do we need water to quench the soul’s thirst? “If any man thirst,” He cries, “let him come unto me, and drink” (John 7:37). “Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst” (John 4 :14). 5. Do we need bread? “I am the bread of life,” He says. “He that cometh to me shall never hunger . . . If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever” (John 6:35, 51). 6. Do we need rest for our spirits? “Come unto me . . . ,” He invites, “and I will give you rest?’ (Matt. 11:28; cf. 29). The wicked are like the troubled sea, which cannot rest. Spiritual rest is the gift of God. 7. Do we need guidance and protection for the soul? “I am the good shepherd,”
