Robert McNeil, Sales Manager for Doorways sets out their two-stage approach for design and build which incorporates their four core principles: Quality, Choice, Design and Service. “The focus in stage one is all about delivering quality, choice and design. Our specification reps get on board with the contractor’s design team to study the client’s brief and the build’s functionality requirements to make sure the right solutions are specified for that particular project. We offer the latest in innovative design to ensure we deliver the very best solution. For example, on a school D+B
you need to understand the requirements for fire and health & safety across the three main product ranges. Also security can be a concern, however the keying can be designed on our Superlock software and the cylinder can be built in our in- house ASSA Lock Centre. “The specification rep will then work out an ironmongery schedule and specify the type of fire doors needed. They’ll ensure that all the door components (handles, hinges, closers etc) are fire compatible to make sure the doors perform in a fire. We’ll provide a sample of the door, along with an ironmongery board fitted with specified handles, hinges, closers for sign- off and approval. “We never compromise when it comes to quality, so you can be confident that the products we specify and supply have been made to last. We also believe in offering our customers more choice from our extensive range of products. “Once the design, functionality and price is agreed, we move on to the second stage where we carry out a site survey and agree a delivery schedule. At this stage we focus on delivering great
service. Each project has a dedicated rep who is a single point of call for the contractor. They are supported by in- house experts who project manage each element; from the doors, ironmongery to access control. We have our own dedicated access-control team who design and fit all our automated doors and access control systems.” Doorways has worked on D+B projects across the UK.
