More About the Bible Union of China The Second of a Series of three Articles by T. M. Blalock, for many years a Missionary in China. The third and last Article will appear in the October Issue. m ERHAPS one of the most seri– ous problems before the Un– ion Is to meet the higher critical and Modernistic lit– gone up and down the la.nd, with their great big attractive placards. It is a

fight almost to keep them from post– ing these on our chapels, dwelling houses and Christian school houses. One thing the Bible Union of China wants to do Is to enlist God's loyal peo– ple to the extent of financing such a move of broadcasting Bible advertising as this. We thank God for all that has ever been done In the way of distribut– ing the Bible and the pure Word of God In tracts and Scripture portions, bu~ truly the Bible has never yet been turned loose on this old sin-cursed China, nor on the world at large. It Is the one Book on earth that can take care of Itself. That's the reason men and devils are arrayed against It. It is a mighty discerner of the hearts, laying bare all the schemes and sins of 'men. No wonder they want to argue it out of court, for It stands an eternal, un– changeable witness against all men, all nations, all classes. The problem of the Devil and all of his followers today Is, what to do with the Bible. They fear It; they dread it above everything else, because it wit· nesses against them now, and it will, it must come up against them In Judg– ment. Yes, let us not be afraid to send ft out Into the darkest places of sin and opposition on earth. Let us not fear to send it Into the homes of kings, princes and the most learned on earth. It will take care of itself, for wherever it goes Its Author goes ' the too, to Interpret it. Its Author and guardian angels of h eaven keep wat~~ over It. Do not fear; It cannot, It w not return void. If God trusted It to this fallen world, shall we be afraid or

Not only must literature more and more be translated and broadcasted to meet and counteract these dangerous liberal Ideas and writings In Chinese, but a way must be found, If possible, to limit or stop, the translating and sending forth of this poisonous literature as far as possible. It has not merely found Its way In tract form and In books on science so called, but It Is rank In Hastings Bible Dictionary and Clarke's Commentary, which were printed In Chinese some years ago. These books are calculated to spoil the Chinese Christians through "philosophy and vain deceit after the traditions of men," even before they are aware of It. If all these books could be gathered together, and made Into a bonfire, It would be a God-send. But perhaps the best way to meet this poison In China, Is to sow down the land with Its antidote, and there Is only one antidote for It, and that Is the Bible Itself. The truth In an unadul– terated form, by tracts, Scripture por– tions attractively put In every town, city and village by the hundreds and thousands, till every home where there Is one person who can read, has llte– glvfng seed Inside Its walls. A world-wide Bible campaign such ae the great tobacco firms have put on In China, would soon work wonders. One of the things that startles the new– comer and traveller in China now, Is to 1ee how these tobacco companies have
