There must be a foundation. Theu must be the beginning of a nation. Bear this In mind from now on In the study of the Scripture. In the lesson for April 8 we had some facts worth reviewing at this time. The first great lesson is separation :from the world "Get thee out." (2 Cor. 6:17) "Wherefore come out from amons them, and be 7e separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I n•fll receive you." God called Abraham to come out from home and country. Abraham ~e sponded, but he stopped-as so many do-at the half way house, Haran (Gen. 11: 31, 32) "And they came unto Haran and dwelt there. And the days of Ternh were two hundred and five years 1 and Ternh died in Haran." l Watch your steps when God calls J you. Many Christian workers have lost out by hesitating and halting when r God has called. God had said to Ab– raham "Get thee out • • • unto a land that I will shew thee" ( 12: 1). c Every believer in Jesus Christ Is or- t dained a missionary (John 17: 18) and t should recognize ·his call and obllga- t tlon and respond with a gladsome "Here am I; send me." Abraham lost the years he spent in Haran. There Is no account of any- thing he did there, but no doubt It is all jotted down against him in the record on high. Let us not try to evade the fact that God keeps books and ac· countability is a thing no man can evade. The second thing is 11election, "l w!ll shew thee." God will guide u1. Be called Abraham alone. He had a ept– clflc work for him to do, and a apecUlc place In which to do It (John 11:11·

the same portions of Scripture are used In each Instance. We do not seek to criticise this selection, for we believe that repetition of truth is a great es- 11ential in teaching, but we do believe that a more definite succession of Scrip– ture would be of greater value. While studying the life of Abraham would It not have been wise to give what seems essential in a well rounded study and th us fix in the minds of the scholars an outline of the life of a man with whom God has covenanted His purposes for the world, for all time? ( 1) GOD'S CHOICE OF ABRAHAM. "I will make of thee a great na– tion" Gen. 12: 2. God's purpose so definitely deter– mined In His declaration to Satan In Genesis 3: 15: "I will put enmlfy between thee and the woman, and between. tla:1' aeed and •er meed1 It shall bruise th7 head, and tho• ahalt bral•e Illa keal.'' must be fulfilled, as must all of God'• promises. We shall see In this lesson how God Is going to reveal His pur- pose.
