THE KING'S BUSINESS
Other people were living In the land, but God kept them from doing him any harm. God blessed Abraham and he became very rich, and God called Abraham His friend. What a great honor it was to Abraham to be called the friend of God. A friend is one whom we can depend upon to stand by us at all times, and God saw that Ab– raham did as He asked him to do. When we obey God we are a blessing to others, and we find that Abraham was a great blessing to others, and now listen children, do you know the blessings we have here today, are ours because Abraham believed God and fol– lowed Him? Abraham loved his home and his people just as we love ours, and he could have stayed there instead of obeying God's call. In obeying the call God made him the father of a great nation-the Jewish people. From this nation came the Messiah, the Lord Jesus, and thus Abraham became a blessing to the whole world. Wher– ever Jesus is known the people are blessed, but just think for a little while of the awful conditions in the lands where they do not know Jesus, but worship idols. Think of China and Africa. (Picture the conditions in these countries, of the child life, the home; contrast with a Christian home). Did you know boys and girls who know Jesus, can be such a great blessing to others, in our homes, in our play, at school, wherever we may be. Are we being a blessing to others? That is what God expects of us every day He gives us life on earth. The words God said to Abraham, "I will bless thee, and be thou a blessing," is our memory verse. Has God blessed every one of us? (Lead the children to name some of their blessings such as Christian homes, churches, schools, health, par– ents and friends to love us, etc.) Now let us see if we can be a greater bless– ing to others than we have been. Clos– ing Prayer.

Roland you tell us about a young man who lived a long time ago who lov.ed his Bible, became a preacher, and led many others to love the Bible too. (Review last week's story.) Our story today is about a man named Abraham, who lived a long, long time ago, and the people of the land where he lived worshipped idols. God told Abraham to leave his home and his relations, and go to another land which He (God) would show him. Abraham did not know what land it was, yet he left his home and his friends, as he was commanded to do for he had faith. He believed that God would bring him to the land he had told him of. Abraham was seventy– five years old, and he took his wife and his nephew, and started for the land God had promised to show him. It was a long journey, over wide rivers and a desert, where the country was lonely and wild. Yet God took care of him and those who were with him, and brought them safely to the promised land. It was called the land of Canaan.
