Saviour becomes a child of God, and when Jesus comes back again, will be like Him.) What was the command the Lord gave them? (v. 21) What command has He given to all of His followers? Memory Verse: "Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord." (John 20: 20 I. c.) ~ ~ After Jesus died on the cross, His friends took His body down very ten– derly, and wrapped it in long sheets to bury it. A rich man, who loved Jesus had built himself a fine tomb to be laid in when he died; he said to the friends of Jesus, "Bury Jesus In my new tomb, for I love Him too." So• Jesus was laid in that new, beautiful tomb. Sunday morning before daylight, Mary Magdalene went to carry some sweet spices to put in Jesus' tomb; when she got there, she found th.e tomb empty. She ran back, to tell Peter and John, saying, "They have taken away the Lord, and I know not where they have laid Him." On hearing her, Peter and John both ran to the tomb, but John got there first. John stooped down, looked in; he found the sheets looking just as if the body were in them, but they were empty; the napkin that they had folded about His head was lying in a corner, nicely folded up: then John remembered that Jesus said, He would rise the third day from the grave, and Sunday was the third day, so John knew that Jesus must have risen just as He had said He would. So he went back home. Mary did not• believe He had risen, but thought that His body had been stolen, so she stood on the outside weeping; she stooped down to look in, and there she saw two angels, one sit- PRIMARY Kate H. ting where Jesus' head had been, and the other where His feet had been. They said to her, "Why are you cry– ing?" She said, "Because they have taken my Lord away and I don't know where they have laid Him." Then she turned around, and saw a man standing there, but did not know him. "Woman, why are you crying, and whom are you looking for?" She thought He was the gardener, so she said, "If you know where they have laid Jesus will you not tell me?" Jesus said, "Mary." She looked at Him, and then she knew it was Jesus, and she said, "Master," and was just going to put her arms round His feet, for she had knelt at His feet, when He stopped her saying, "Don't worship My body, but remem– ber that I am God's Son and your Sav- ior, and worship God, and worship Me as your Savior: Now go tell the others that I have risen from the grave, and will go to My Father." How happy Mary was; she ran back as quickly as she could, and told the other friends of Jesus that He had risen from the grave, for she had seen Him, and talked to Him, and He had sent her to tell them. Memory Verse: "He is not here: but is risen:" Luke 24: 6. There are manY people today who will tell you that Jesus did not rise from the grave, bUt do not believe it, for He did. He is in Heaven now, where He is getting homes ready for us when we come there, and hearing and answering our prayers.
