That Sunday night, the disciples were gathered in a room with the doors shut, for they were afraid of the Jews; while they were talking about Jesus, suddenly without any doors opening, Jesus stood in the middle of the room, and said, "Peace be unto you." How glad the disciples were to see Him. How He came through shut doors without opening them, they did not know. But He showed them the nail prints in His hands, and the hole in His side, where the soldier had stuck his spear, and they were certain sure then that He was Jesus. Jesus said again, "Peace be unto you," for He knew how afraid the disciples were of the J ews. Then Jesus said, "As My Father sent Me to tell people how to have their sins forgiven, and get to heaven, so now I send you." Then He breathed on them, saying, "Receive ye the Holy Spirit. Tell the people if they believe on Me, their sins will be forgiven, but ii they do not believe on Me, they will not be forgiven." Thomas, one of the disciples, was not 11ith them that night, so when he came, they told him, "We have seen the Lord." Thomas said, "Unless I see the Drlnt of the nails in His hands, and put lily hand in the hole in His side, I will ot believe He is alive."
Eight days afterward, the disciples were all together, Thomas with them, and the door shut: suddenly, J esus stood in the room, saying, "Peace b e unto you. Thomas, put your finger in the nail prints, and your hand in My side, and believe it is I." Thomas felt ashamed of himself, and said, "My Lord and my God." Jesus said, "Thomas you would not believe that I had risen until you saw Me, but blessed are those who believe in Me though they have not seen Me." So you see, Jesus calls those of u s who have never seen Jesus, but believe in Him anyway, more blessed than Thomas. Many wonderful things Jesus did are not written in the Bible. Every thing that is written in the Bible about Jesus was written so that we might know how to get our sins for– given and be sure to go to heaven when we die. Let us not be like Thomas, who had to see, before he believed in Jesus. Let us believe all the Bible tells us about Him, for we may be sure it tells the truth, for it is God's word, and God does not lie. Memory Verse: "But these are writ– ten, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name." John 20:31.
