gŏđŏ Russell, Casselman and Vars celebrate Canada Day

Chanteuse Isabelle Quesnel sang O Canada in full voice at the Casselman Canada Day celebrations held at the J.R. Brisson complex on July 1. Casselman held a special par- ty in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee and 60 years of celebrations. The party included giant cakes, children’s games, an antique exhibition, bicycle trip to St. Albert, Bingo, line dancing, spaghetti supper, talent show, and fireworks.
These local children enjoy the bouncy buildings at the Vars Canada Day celebrations held at Alcide Trudeau Park in Vars on July 1. Jean Seguin, president of Vars Community Association, an- nounced in May that Vars would be receiving $5000 from the City of Ottawa for their Canada Day party. With plenty of games and entertainment the event was very well-attended. It finished with muscial fireworks in the evening.

Canada Day celebrations were a huge hit in Russell on July 1. Perfect weather brought lots of people out to see the bands, eat the food, and watch competitors play volley- ball or stuff themselves at the hot-dog and Jello eating contest. They also featured their spectacular evening fireworks. The fire department brought their giant sprin- kler and here these boys discover that a wet body in the corn box is a mistake.
