Athletic Trainers on Staff —Dean is proud to be the only performing arts program in New England that employs certified and licensed athletic trainers with extensive experience working with dancers. The trainers provide a multitude of services including injury prevention workshops, backstage medical coverage during all performances, and more. Performance Opportunities —There are numerous concerts and showcases available for our dancers and opportunities to audition for one of our various student-run dance teams. Many of our dancers also earn roles in Dean’s Main Stage musical and theatre productions. Additionally, Dean participates in the American College Dance Association’s (ACDA) Regional Festival, and choreographic works by Dean students have been chosen for performance in the ACDA gala at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Master Classes —Dean provides master classes to our dance students, providing the opportunity to work with artists from touring dance and theater productions. Previous organizations we have worked with include Boston Ballet, Cirque du Soleil, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet West, Martha Graham Dance Company, Manhattan Dance Project, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Staff Musicians —Staff musicians collaborate with our dance faculty in many of the technique classes. Some of our accompanists are also composers who create original music for performances. Interdisciplinary Options —Dance majors at Dean may also seek to expand their education in liberal arts. There are many classes and majors in complementary areas to choose from, including arts leadership, biology, business management, early childhood education, exercise science, and theatre.
