BA IN THEATRE TRACKS BA Theatre students choose to specialize in one of the following tracks: Performance —With expert acting and performance training, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the theatre and musical theatre repertoire in this track. An emphasis will be placed on voice, acting, dance, and movement techniques. Production and Design —This track will provide you with hands-on experience in technical theatre: design, lighting, sets, props, costuming, and stage management. You will work behind the scenes to help make our stage productions a reality, while gaining live theatre experience in various settings, including dance, musical theatre, cabaret, live music, and stage plays. General Theatre —Emphasizing an in-depth exploration of theatre history, dramatic literature, and performance theory, this track is designed to help you build a vibrant and long-lasting career as a citizen artist. This track has been designed with flexibility in mind, allowing our students to explore interdisciplinary work, studying away, and/or pursuing a double major. All of the BA Theatre tracks feature our signature mix of specialized coursework in theatre techniques and fundamentals with a broad foundation in essential subjects like English, history, art, music, math, and science.
A minor in Theatre is ideal if you want to explore the performing arts alongside your primary field of study. It will provide a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of theatre, including acting, stagecraft, and script analysis. This minor can complement many majors by enhancing skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and writing. Students in any bachelor’s degree program at Dean may opt to complete a Theatre minor, which consists of 18 credits.
