Students majoring in Arts Leadership at Dean are required to take courses in four key areas: Arts —You will engage in studies that foster a deeper understanding of various artistic disciplines, providing you with a broad cultural foundation. This training will enhance your ability to support and manage artistic endeavors within the entertainment industry. Business —You will learn about the challenges that arts and entertainment operations are facing today and how to successfully lead an organization to a more secure future—from the facility to finances, event management to marketing, and human resources to legal matters. Focused Electives —You will broaden your specialized knowledge by choosing elective courses such as venue and facilities management, live event planning and management, creative entrepreneurship, theatre pedagogy, and portfolio creation and dramaturgy. Liberal Arts —By taking courses in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics, you will be well-equipped to be a full participant in today’s complex global society.

For every performer on stage, there are also people working hard behind the scenes to connect artists with audiences, manage operations, and promote art in all its forms. These talented professionals are integral to the success of arts and entertainment organizations. At Dean, we will help you hone the skills and acquire the knowledge you need to join this dynamic, multibillion-dollar industry. From day one, you will explore current trends in live arts and entertainment events from around the world, while also evaluating case study examples and analyzing best-practice models. You will gain access to professional networking and internship opportunities with a variety of organizations such as Walt Disney World, Kraft Sports + Entertainment, Providence Performing Arts Center, Boston Ballet, GFour Productions, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Association of Performing Arts Professionals, Universal Studios, and many others.
