EN Equivalent Sound Absorption Area ( A ) is a metric used in acous- tics to quantify the sound-absorbing properties of an object or sur- face. It represents the hypothetical area of a perfectly absorbing material (which absorbs 100% of sound energy) that would provide the same level of sound absorption as the actual object or surface being evaluated. A tells how effective a particular object is at absorb- ing sound compared to a theoretical perfect absorber. A is expressed in square meters, square feets or sabins and is used to compare the sound absorption capabilities of different objects and surfaces. It's a useful metric in designing spaces for specific acoustic requirements, where sound & noise control is crucial, such as open plan offices or other high-volume noisy environments. Sie stellt die hypothetische Fläche eines perfekt absorbie- renden Materials (das 100% der Schallenergie absorbiert) dar, die den gleichen Schallabsorptionsgrad wie das zu bewertende Ob- jekt oder die zu bewertende Fläche aufweisen würde. A gibt an, wie effektiv ein bestimmtes Objekt im Vergleich zu einem theo- retischen perfekten Absorber Schall absorbiert. A wird in Quad- ratmetern, Quadratfuß oder Sabins angegeben und dient zum Vergleich der Schallabsorptionsfähigkeit verschiedener Objekte und Oberflächen. Es ist eine nützliche Kennzahl bei der Gestal- tung von Räumen für spezifische akustische Anforderungen, bei denen Schall- und Geräuschkontrolle von entscheidender Be- deutung sind, wie z. B. in Großraumbüros oder in anderen lauten Umgebungen mit hohem Geräuschpegel.
