Newfound Area School District
The Newfound Area School District is a Cooperative School District that was established in 1965. The District serves students in grades K-12 for the communities of Alexandria, Bridgewater, Bristol, Danbury, Groton, Hebron, and New Hampton. In 2015, a 10-year tuition agreement was established with the Hill School District that provides enrollment for students in grades 7-12 in the Newfound Area School District. The Newfound Area School
District sits within three counties of New Hampshire. New Hampton is in Belknap County. Bridgewater, Bristol, Hebron, Groton, and Alexandria are in Grafton County, and Danbury is in Merrimack County. The Newfound Area School District is governed by the Newfound Area School Board. The School Board is comprised of seven members- one member being elected from each community in the Cooperative District, on a rotating basis. Each member is elected for a 3-year term. The School District is also overseen by a Budget Committee. The Budget Committee is comprised of eight members- one member being elected from each community and the final member being a School Board member assigned on an annual basis. The seven members are elected for a 3-year term.

Where do our students go to elementary school? Residents of Danbury attend Danbury Elementary School. Residents of New Hampton attend New Hampton Community School. Residents who live in Bristol and the half of Alexandria closest to Bristol attend Bristol Elementary School. Residents of Bridgewater, Hebron, Groton, and the other half of Alexandria attend Bridgewater-Hebron Village School. The Bridgewater-Hebron Village District owns Bridgewater- Hebron Village School. The District has use of the facility as a school. The Village District is responsible for the facility and does all major maintenance and repairs.

Newfound Regional High School participates in the New Hampshire Scholars Program. This is a community-based program that encourages students to take a more rigorous core course of study in high school. New Hampshire Scholars is part of the National State Scholars Initiative Network. Twenty-five states across the country participate in this national initiative. During the 2016-2017 school year, we had 37 (out of 73) students graduate with New Hampshire Scholars Distinction. Newfound Regional High School offers both Running Start and Advanced Placement (AP) courses for students. Running Start courses are done in partnership with our local community colleges and offer the ability for students to take college level courses for credit while enrolled in high school. NRHS offers these courses in Software Applications, American Government, College Mathematics, Human Biology, and American Literature. During the 2016-2017 school year, NRHS had 75 students enrolled in these rigorous courses.

Advanced Placement courses provide motivated high school students with the opportunity to take college level courses in a high school setting. Students can also earn college credits for taking and passing the exams associated with these courses. During the 2016-2017 school year, NRHS had 36 students take 70 exams.

Newfound Area School District
Newfound Lake is central to the Newfound Area.
Newfound Lake is 6 miles long and 2.5 miles wide. The lake, at its deepest point, is 183 feet. The lake is situated within the towns of Bristol, Bridgewater, Alexandria, and Hebron. It is home to the following islands: Mayhew Island (Camp Mayhew can be found on this island), Wolf Island, Cliff Island, Belle Island, and Loon Island. There are 22 miles of shoreline and the lake holds 98 billion gallons of water. Wellington State Park, the largest fresh water swimming beach in NH, covers 204 acres and is found on the west side of the lake.
