UWC THAILAND
STEADY AT THE HELM
A Steady Hand at the Helm UWC Thailand ’ s School Board
At a time of transition and growth, clear leadership and strategic direction are essential to maintaining the momentum and stability of our school. In this special edition of the Manta Pulse, we spoke with Sonia Tay, Chair of the UWC Thailand School Board, to understand how the Board is supporting continuity, strengthening governance, and building a strong foundation for the years ahead. With new leadership stepping in and a renewed focus on community, well-being, and long-term sustainability, Sonia shares insights into how UWC Thailand is navigating change with purpose—staying true to its mission while shaping a future defined by unity, resilience, and innovation. Leading with Vision and Purpose UWC Thailand’s vision remains deeply rooted in the UWC mission: using education to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. As we look ahead, the school is focused on strengthening academic excellence, advancing student well-being, and staying at the forefront of values-driven education. What is the vision and strategic direction of the school moving forward? “We’ll be working closely with our community to shape the next strategic plan, making sure it reflects our shared values and aspirations.” Leadership Transitions, Lasting Stability This year marks an exciting new chapter with the arrival of David Griffiths as Head of School in July 2025 and Mick Sheridan as Secondary Principal. Alongside Primary Principal Kurtis Peterson and our Cross-School Principal Alice Greenland, they form a cohesive, student-centred leadership team. How will the new leadership team bring stability and continuity? “Their deep commitment to UWC values and student-first leadership will provide the steady hand we need. And we’re grateful to Mark Beach, our Interim Head of School, for guiding us through this important transition with grace and strength.”
