UWC THAILAND
STEADY AT THE HELM
Learning, Leading, and Moving Forward
Where it all Began A little over six years ago, I paid my first visit to the UWC Thailand campus as a prospective Primary Principal. During the numerous interviews and meetings with stakeholders, a few things became very evident. Firstly, this was a school with amazing people and immense potential. The community wanted a primary school that reflected the vision. The six years since that first visit have been tumultuous and seldom smooth, but one thing has remained constant: the people and climate that make this school the special place that it is. Through COVID, financial re-alignment, and numerous changes in organisational structures, the Primary school has not only weathered the storm—it remains a thriving and engaging place for staff to work, for students to learn, and for parents to support. Evidence of Progress For two of the past three school years, we’ve had no homeroom teachers leave (a first in over 17 years of my career as a principal). Our PYP model has been recognised by the broader IB community through presentations at IB global conferences (2024 and 2025) and by our selection as a pilot school for the new subject being introduced in 2026.
