Boarding for a Purpose – Driven Future

As Director of Boarding at UWC Thailand, I envision a residential community that truly lives the UWC mission—uniting cultures through education to build peace and a sustainable future. Boarding at UWC Thailand is more than accommodation; it’s a shared home where students from diverse backgrounds live with purpose, grow together, and develop into grounded, compassionate leaders. These young changemakers will be equipped not only with the skills to create meaningful impact but also with the capacity to work across cultures, build trust, and lead with integrity. Our aim is to nurture students who are authentic, self-aware, and capable of building strong relationships, essential for driving sustainable change in communities and organisations. A Balanced, Supportive Community Students in our boarding community will be guided to thrive in a shared environment. We focus on both interpersonal skills—such as collaboration, conflict resolution, and communication, and intrapersonal growth, including emotional regulation, reflection, and resilience. This holistic development ensures our students are prepared to navigate both their inner worlds and complex social dynamics. Well-being sits at the heart of our approach. We strive to create spaces where students feel safe to explore their identities while learning to appreciate others. Through everyday life in boarding, they develop deep intercultural understanding, moving beyond tolerance to genuine appreciation of diversity. “ Boarding at UWC Thailand gave me more than just a home — it gave me a global family. We didn ’ t just live together, we learned how to live with purpose. ” JILL, CLASS OF 2021 (USA)
