Through this extraordinary wave of giving, UWC Thailand secured the financial backing needed to chart a new path—one of independence, integrity, and sustainability. The repayment journey became a shared commitment. Every budget reviewed, every cost reconsidered, every fundraising event held—each action was rooted in accountability to those who made this bold step possible. Project Independence became more than a loan; it became a daily reminder of what can happen when people come together with purpose. In November 2024, during our Loy Krathong celebration, the school marked a symbolic moment: handing over a cheque representing half of the loan repayment to Banyapura. The atmosphere that night was one of joy, relief, and pride. It wasn’t just a financial milestone—it was proof that collective will had triumphed over uncertainty. Then, on 15 May 2025, the final loan repayment was made. No refinancing. No outside bailouts. Just commitment, perseverance, and belief. This moment marked more than the end of a loan—it marked the beginning of a new chapter. A chapter grounded in stability, but more importantly, in values. UWC Thailand had not only survived—it had been carried forward by the very people it exists to serve. Project Independence is a testament to the spirit of UWC Thailand. A spirit of resilience. Of generosity. Of people who, when faced with a storm, created their own current—and kept the mission alive. Today, we stand on that foundation. And as we look ahead to new plans, new students, and new possibilities, we do so with deep gratitude for the community that chose to rise.
