JOIN THE PUBLIC ART CONVERSATION
Have you ever wondered why there are 6-foot-tall ears of corn in Dublin? Or imagined that there must be a story behind the “cicada men” in the trees in Coffman Park? Dublin Arts Council has created an interactive “Sense of Place” fieldbook that invites you to step inside the mind of a public artist to learn how Dublin’s public art reflects the history, culture and spirit of our community. Take a new look at 24 public artworks located across 14 Dublin parks with your Sense of Place fieldbook, engaging with creative prompts that explore the inner workings of public art and Dublin’s award-winning collection. The fieldbook incorporates voices from public artists, administrators and community members alike. Prompts from a sound artist invite you to take a closer look at what may be familiar public artworks, as you are encouraged to sketch, write and doodle. Once all sites have been visited, bring your completed fieldbook to Dublin Arts Council, 7125 Riverside Dr., to earn a prize. Fieldbooks are available in Dublin Arts Council’s ARTboxes, found in Scioto Park, Ted Kaltenbach Park, the Kiwanis Frog Park behind the Visit Dublin Ohio Visitors Center, in Bridge Park near Pins Mechanical, outside the Dublin Community Recreation Center and at Dublin Arts Council. They are also available for download at DublinArts.org/senseofplace .
