S P O R T S HAWKESBURY HAWKS SPLIT THEIR MID-NOVEMBER GAMES

The Hawkesbury Hawks split their mid- November weekend games, with one loss and one win for their season tally. The Hawks hosted the Pembroke Lumber Kings last Friday and cut the Kings down 5-2. Pembroke got on the scoreboard first, with a goal from Fletcher Anderson late in the first period. Assisting were Jacob Shanka and Brady Egan. Azzaro Tinling put Hawkesbury on the board two minutes later, with a power-play goal that had some help from Zachary Lefebvre and Luke Grainger. Andrew Poulias popped in Pembroke’s last goal before the end of the period, on a power play. Helping him were Anderson and Nicolas Guillemette. Scoring in the second period for the Hawks was Mathieu Sabourin, with assists from Owen Gonter and Sean E. Clarke. Third period saw Luke Grainger break the tie five minutes into the play, with Jaxon Camp and Tinling assisting. Patrick Callahan finished off Hawkesbury’s score with two unassisted goals on empty nets during the final minute of the game. Saturday at home, the Hawks lost 3-1 to the visiting Ottawa Junior Senators, in a game that featured a scoreless first period. The Senators dominated second period with goals from Conor Smart and David Bérubé. Assisting Smart was Tucker McIntosh and Christopher Piché. Bérubé had help from Bailey Brant and Michael Eftimovski. Bérubé popped in Ottawa’s last point at the mid-mark of the third period, with help from Vincent Velocci and Ranvir Gill-Shane. The lone goal for the Hawks came from Jérémie Payant, with help from Zachary Lefebvre and Azzaro Tinling. The Hawks faced the Bears in Smiths Falls November 19 and will host Kanata again November 22. Rockland The mid-November weekend at home was not a good one for the Rockland Nationals. The Nats hosted the Kanata Lasers, last Friday night, at the CIHA Arena, and then the Brockville Braves Sunday afternoon. The Lasers zapped the Nats 6-4 while the Braves had to get a shootout point to win their match against the Nats 4-3. Rockland got on the scoreboard first against Kanata, with Noah Doyle popping in the puck in the last half of the first period, with help from Gunnar Smith and Justin Dauphinais. Second period belonged to the Lasers, with Dante Hoffman and Lukash Matthews firing in points within the first four minutes of play. Charlie Johnson assisted on Hoffman’s goal while Matthews scored his point solo. Nats Captain Matthew Vermaeten attemp- ted a comeback start for Rockland, with the home team’s second goal about half a minute after Matthews scored. Assisting Vermaeten were Vincent Labelle and Cole Craft. Trevor Poeze restored Kanata’s two-point lead midway into the period, with assists from Austin Paul and Luca Nocita. Two minutes later, Smith narrowed the gap back to one point difference between Rockland and Kanata, with help from fellow Nats Noah Doyle and Joe Jordan. Kanata dominated third period with

Cameron Last put in the last point for Rockland on a power play during the final minute of the game, with assists from Craft and Smith. Sunday afternoon, hosting the Braves ended in a 4-3 shootout loss for Rockland.
Cole Craft put Rockland on the scoreboard first with a power-play goal in the middle of the first period. Assisting were Simon Labelle and Noah Doyle. Brockville answered with two goals in the second half of the period. Scoring were Josh Cole from Josh Spratt, and Troy Bowditch from Mathieu Wuth and Parker Casey. Rockland’s Joe Jordan fired in an unanswe- red goal in the second period, with assists
from Doyle and Andrew Aboumossa. Third saw Konnor MacCormick score unassisted to put Brockville back in the lead. Craft tied the game up at the period mid-mark with a power-play goal, assisted by Vincent Labelle and Jack Sullivan. No goals for either side in the overtime period pushed the game into a shootout situation with Ryan Gillespie and Troy Bow- ditch winning the shootout for Brockville.

The Metcalfe Jets crashed and burned Saturday night at the Vankleek Hill Arena. The Vankleek Hill Cougars tore the Jets apart 5-1, with Nicolas Castonguay punching two points into the Metcalfe net. Scoring singles for the Cougars were Tyler Allard, Nikolas Ayotte, and Trystan Lavoie. Assisting on the Vankleek Hill goals were Ayotte, Lavoie, Mathieu Cloutier, Vincent Huneault, Jonathan Lacroix, Samuel Lemay, Maxim Rozon, and Stamatis Skotidakis. Frederick Durocher-Bourdon guarded the net. Scoring the lone goal for Metcalfe was Conor Roche, with help from Chris Martin. Jett Miller was in the net. The Cougars host the Gatineau Hull-Vo- lant Saturday night, over the November 23 weekend. Saint-Isidore Sunday night’s home game for Saint- Isidore finished in a two-all tie against the Bytown Royals, even with the overtime play. Both of the home team’s goals went in
