First held in 1980 as the concluding event of the Winter Championship, the VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final is designed for open class milers, with qualifying heats staged at Sandown, Swan Hill, Caulfield, and Flemington. This prestigious series attracts some of the most in-form gallopers, competing over distances between 1400m and 1600m.
