Careers in the automotive industry include automotive technicians, motorsports engineers, car designers and business owners. With a global focus on climate change and a growing demand for hybrid and electric vehicles, there are lots of opportunities for innovation and a real need for workers that can quickly adapt to new technologies. Preston College stays at the forefront of automotive advancements by offering training in hybrid and electric vehicle technology. With the rise of electric vehicles, the College focuses on training learners in the installation and maintenance of charging stations. This includes understanding charging protocols, electrical safety, and troubleshooting charging infrastructure. In our iSTEM Automotive Workshop you will find a range of learning resources including demonstration cars, diagnostics equipment, mechanic tool kits and hydro/pneumatic lifts. There is also a bespoke training rig for simulating electric vehicle charging points developed by Nissan.
