The health and social care industry is vast with the NHS employing more than 1.5 million people for over 350 different roles nationally. Mental Health and Social Care are areas with a lot of employment opportunities, with increasing numbers of people needing support from mental health professionals and social care workers. The latter support people in a range of settings including private homes, residential homes, day centres and supported housing. It is a rewarding sector and your choice of career can make a real difference to people’s lives. The T Level in Health will cover a broad range of topics to develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that can be applied to a wide range of roles in the health sector. There are also opportunities to specialise with pathways in adult nursing or mental health. Preston College also offers health and social care courses at Level 1, 2 and 3 allowing you to develop your skills and knowledge for a wide range of careers in the sector. At Preston College we have a wide range of learning facilities and equipment that provides a realistic learning experience. These include a fully kitted out hospital ward, hospital beds, dental suite, and equipment to simulate the working environment.

T LEVEL IN HEALTH You will develop a broad understanding of the health industry by studying a range of topics including: the health and science sector; principles of good scientific and clinical practice; person-centred care, supporting health and wellbeing; infection and prevention control; and core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology.
