CAREER SPOTLIGHT

MIDWIFE Midwives provide expert care to mothers and babies during and after pregnancy, they also deliver babies in normal births and assist doctors with difficult deliveries. Responsibilities include the planning and management of midwifery care services, supervising and training junior staff and advising on baby care, exercise, diet and family planning. You’ll need excellent communication skills to train others and keep medical notes up-to-date and accurate. Midwives are educated to degree level so you will need to continue your studies after college. You can gain a degree through university or a degree apprenticeship. The T Level in Health with the adult nursing pathway will prepare you for further study at this higher level. You can gain up to 168 UCAS points for entry to university programmes.
