SUPPORTED INTERNSHIPS Preston College, in collaboration with DFN Project SEARCH, is proud to offer a transformative supported internship programme designed for young people with SEND, aged 18-25 years-old with an Education, Health and Care Plan. This programme aims to transition them from education to paid employment of 16 hours+. The programme helps young people prepare for employment by equipping them with essential skills through work experience placements with either Lancashire County Council, Lancashire Constabulary, or Places for People. Alongside their time at the host business, they complete a person-centred study programme in employability and independent living skills. This helps them apply for jobs and successfully transition from education to employment and adult life. They are supported onsite by a tutor and an employability coach. Through this comprehensive programme, young people with learning disabilities and autism are equipped to make successful transitions to adulthood, gaining the skills and confidence needed for meaningful employment.
