PRESTON COLLEGE NEWS STUDENT WINS PROUD AWARD Preston College student Mohammed Azizi has won a Lancashire County Council PROUD award for Positive Choices and Achievement. Mohammed is an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) student at Preston College.

Mohammed was nominated in recognition of his hard- work, positive attitude and for dedicating his free time to helping others in the local community. Bobby Smith is Mohammed’s tutor, he adds: “Mohammed is very passionate about making a difference for young people. He deserves this award in recognition for all his hard work. We are all incredibly proud of his success.”

This year, our talented ATA (Actors Training Academy) learners stared in an exclusive production at The Dukes Theatre, Lancaster called “THE SCIENCE OF SHRINKING STUDENTS.” In this imaginative piece, a school resorts to shrinking its students to accommodate the current cost of living rises, providing a unique and engaging narrative. The Dukes Theatre representatives have been impressed by the calibre of ATA learners in their previous shows and approached the College with the opportunity to cast this show exclusively from the academy. John-Mark Reid, Lead Lecturer of Acting for Stage and Screen at Preston College says: “The exceptional quality of our learners during auditions prompted the writer and director to expand the cast, as they were unable to separate the talent before them. ATA is so proud of these learners and what they have achieved.” ATA LEARNERS STAR IN NEW DUKES THEATRE PRODUCTION

CREATIVE LEARNERS GET PUBLISHED Preston College learners Hailey Williams, Stella Omopariola and Hannah Bailey (pictured left to right) have become published authors in an online anthology of creative writing stories created by the Association of College. Stella shared, “The project was challenging as I didn’t think I could do it, but my tutor encouraged me and now I have a lot more confidence in my writing. First, we were told that our stories had been chosen for the online anthology and then we heard that they were going to be printed. I was so happy and proud when I heard the news.”
