are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Cor. 3:18). The sunshine must fall on us . . . as it does on some cloud cradled near its setting, which it drenches and sat urates with fire till its cold heart bums, and all its wreaths of vapor are bright ness palpable, glorified by the light which lives amidst its mists. So must we have the glory sink into us before it can be reflected from us. In deep inward beholding, we must have Christ in our hearts, that He may shine forth from our lives.—Alexander Maclaren. Testing Our Love for God “He that loveth not his brother . . . , how can he love God?” (1 John 4:20). What a solemn thought, that our love to God will be measured by our every day intercourse with men and the love it displays; and that our love to God will be found to be a delusion, except as its truth is proved in standing the test of daily life with our fellow men! It is even so with our humility.. Hu mility toward men will be the only suf ficient proof that our humility before God is real.—Andrew Murray. . Completed Work “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6). Rejoice, O trembling heart! The Holy Spirit has come to indwell .thee, and He will not leave His residence. . . . He has giveii thee glimpses, yearnings, first fruits, which are the earnest of an inheritance that He cannot do oth erwise than grant. . . . There are no unfinished pictures in His gallery, no unperfected blocks in His studio. “The work which His grace has begun the arm of His strength will complete.” —F. B. Meyer. Thy Grace “The exceeding riches of his grace” (Eph. 2:7). Oh, like the air about us that we breathe, As limitless and all-encompassing; And like the earth beneath us that we tread, As strong, as solid, and unvarying; And like the sky above, where sun and stars In old, unalterable orbits swing; So is Thy grace to us, O God of Grace! Pledge of Thy mercy, promise of Thy might, Changeless through all the sorrows of the day, Changeless through all the terrors of the night, A present peace, a certain comforting, Sustaining joy, and everlasting light. —Annie Johnson Flint. 9. 10. 11.

12. Center of All Centers “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is cruci fied unto me, and I unto the world” (Gal. 6:14). To the believer, the cross is the awful yet blessed center of all centers. All the fibers of his soul are wrapped around it, for it is the pivot of God’s purposes, the instrument of eternal re demption, the procuring cause of for giveness, and the ground of peace, holi ness, and everlasting joy.—E. Adams. Essence of Christianity “Follow . . . holiness, without which no man s h a l l see the Lord” (Heb. 12:14). How far hath many a man followed Christ, and yet forsook Him when all worldly interests and hopes were to be renounced! God hath resolved that heaven shall not be had oh easier terms. Rest must always come after labor. Seriousness is the very thing wherein consists our sincerity. If thou art not serious, thou art not a Christian. Seriousness is not only a high degree in Christianity but the very life and es sence of it. Is it not wisdom to exert ourselves to the utmost?—Richard Bax ter. 13.
