Annual Weeds

MINT, PERILLA *T* Perilla frutescens

Life Cycle: Perennial Plant Description: An erect perennial with green to purplish-green leaves with toothed leaf margins. It has distinctive mint odor and leaves help in the identification of perilla mint. This plant is extremely toxic to all kinds of cattle, sheep and horses. Often animals will avoid perilla mint until other forage is limited. Also, once treated with an herbicide, the palatability is more appealing to animals. Treatment: Apply 12 to 16 fluid ounces of DuraCor ® herbicide per acre. Herbicide application may increase palatability of certain

poisonous plants. DO NOT allow livestock to graze treated areas until poisonous plants are dry and no longer palatable to livestock.
