Spreading plant and a member of the cactus family. Reproduces from stems or seeds. Stems (pads) are flat and pointed, with spines 1-1.5 inches long. Seeds are numerous, small, white, and flattened. Native and commonly found on dry sandy soils. Overgrazing can lead to heavy populations.
Treatment: Apply Tordon ® 22K herbicide 8-16 fluid ounces per acre at flowering.
