A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9

This week we had our celebration assembly where students were awarded prizes for their hard work in their lessons as well as tutor time. Congratulations to all of those students who received awards. Students will be receiving their certificates in tutor time. In the celebration assembly, the students who got the most e praise points in each form were recognised. These students were: 9STH - Camila K, 9SPI - Alexa M, 9PGO - Nimisha C, 9PFO - Keiva M, 9FWD - Rosalie S, 9FBH - Jasmeet S, 9EPA - Matilda T and 9EJO - Meg S. Congratulations to all of you! This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Year 9 students will be doing activities in tutor time around the concept of neurodiversity, considering the importance of celebrating our unique strengths and differences. The Collection 4 Clothes fundraiser went very well in school. A substantial amount of clothes were donated, the donation box was overflowing! These will be brought to communities in less economically developed countries in Eastern Europe, Africa, South-East Asia, and the Middle East where they are sold at local affordable prices that benefit their local communities. On Thursday next week, we are going to be having a non uniform day to support UNICEF. Our school recognises the very important work UNICEF does to protect the rights of children everywhere and we want to support this fantastic cause. You can donate via ParentPay, JustGiving or by bringing cash on the day. Please note that JustGiving set a minimum donation of £2. Students need to please remember that we are a working environment by following the non-uniform expectations so that everyone marks the day in the spirit of community. These will be clearly outlined to students next week in tutor time. Next week we are carrying out uniform checks, with a particular focus on skirts and trousers ensuring that they adhere to the uniform policy. The uniform policy states that skirts should be a ‘black knee length kilt’ and that trousers should be ‘tailored plain black trousers. Fashion trousers, tight fitting trousers and stretch fabric are not permitted’. Thank you in advance for your support with this at home.
