much in appearance like unto the famous headless horseman of Sleepy Hollow. A headless body, if you will, attempting to pass itself off as a total being. Before a defensive pose is taken, think with me for a moment about the diversity of opinions concern­ ing the concept of the Body, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, the function of the Church, etc. It was the Holy Spirit of whom Christ spoke when He said, "He shall glorify Me: for he shall re­ ceive of mine, and shall show it unto you," John 16:14. It is the Holy Spirit whose function is iden­ tified as being the bonding ele­ ment, used not only to bind the Body together, but also to bind the Body to the Head (Ephesians 4:4, 5)! Nevertheless it is the Head, our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the

illustrative significance of one as it relates to the doctrinal significance of the other. I must admit the thought of shar­ ing this particular idea causes me to strongly identify with Ichabod, in his hesitancy to share his story with his friends. However, he did — and I will. I will keep in mind the rules of the road, that I am merely offering a thought, not reaching a conclusion. It is Jesus Christ who said, "I am the W a y ..." (John 14:6). It is also He who presents Himself as the Head of the Church, Ephesians 1:22; 5:23. I am convinced that His intention when presenting this truth was that we, the members of the Church, should adhere to the importance of it at all times. It seems to me as I look about today that all too often I find my­ self beholding an apparition very
