Last month marked the start of an exciting new chapter for The Button Law Firm. After realizing we needed more space for our growing firm, we moved to a new office at the end of January, and it’s been a fantastic start to the year. We loved our previous office, a shared co-working space in Deep Ellum, and it served our clients and us really well for two years. It’s where Ashley, Rosie, Gabby, and I came together as a team. But we were outgrowing it and consistently in need of more space for client meetings (thank you!) and conference calls. It was time to look for our next home. We’ve found all that in an office in the Love Field neighborhood. We dreamed up an office environment that would cater to the needs of our team and our clients. Working with some excellent designers and the stellar team at Front Desk Furniture, we made our dream space. It’s the first time I’ve had my own office, which is wild to think about! There are dedicated areas for each of us. The office has tons of natural light, open ceilings, and everything we need to do our best work. It’s calm and peaceful inside and outside. It has its own well-lit parking lot, as well as a ramp, stairs, and an elevator. We have a designated appreciation wall that will feature pictures of our clients as a reminder of the people we’ve worked with and how they motivate us to succeed. We built this space with intention, and it’s been a team project. We each played a part in influencing how it was created and defining what we’ll use it for. We moved furniture together; we cleaned each room together; our family members even came on the weekends and helped us get it ready to open the doors to you. Even within the first couple of weeks of moving into our new office, the change in productivity was incredible. Having our own designated space means much less time spent on logistical tasks and much more time focused on our clients. Recently, when one of our clients visited us at the new space, they commented on how peaceful it feels. “It’s inviting, peaceful, and modern, not overwhelming like some firms,” they said. Our client captured exactly what we had in mind when we Moving Into Our New Home A PLACE TO GROW

designed it: a space that welcomes you and shows you that everything is going to be alright — somewhere you feel at ease and safe from the moment you walk in the door. In the coming years, we’re looking forward to growing here. We plan to host focus groups and masterminds to collaborate with other local businesses to make our community even better. It’s going to help us all prosper together. Next month, we’ll host our first VIP event here to introduce everyone to the neighborhood. Right now, we want to share our excitement with you because you’ve been part of this. Truthfully, we could not do it without our clients or referral partners. You’ve been part of creating an environment in which success is the culmination of team effort. It means so much to serve our community and the people who need us. We’re glad to be here.

APPRECIATING OUR TEACHERS

Giving Back to Those Who Educate

It’s been an exciting month at our firm! As Russell shared on the cover, we just moved into our awesome new space. We’ve also honored our first teacher through our Teacher Appreciation Program. Once a month, we’ll randomly select a teacher from your nominations. Even if your nominee wasn’t selected this month, they will continue to be in the running. Thank you to everyone who participated; it was heartwarming to see how much you care about our community’s educators. Here’s more about our recipient and how we showed them our appreciation. Courtney

Appreciation Program! Congratulations, Courtney! Here’s what parents shared about Mrs. Galbreath: “This teacher deserves to win for so many reasons, from teaching our little five-year-old to training the parent of this five-year-old. She updates through Facebook, text message, and email — anything she can to do to make sure we know what’s going on. She goes above and beyond every time. She’s always available, even at 2 a.m. We simply love her to pieces (I’m currently a first grade mom and still, she is the best).” “Mrs. Galbreath makes all of her students feel safe and loved while pushing them to do the best they can. My daughter cried every day last year going to pre-K. This year, she can’t wait to get to school to see Mrs. Galbreath.” This program is close to our hearts and aligns with our values. We are firm believers in the power of education, and our teachers make a difference in so many lives. When we learned how much teachers spend out-of-pocket on their classroom and students, we wanted to help out. That’s where the Teacher Appreciation Program came in. Find more information and nominate a teacher for our Teacher Appreciation Program here: www.buttonlawfirm.com/teachers.

Galbreath is a kindergarten teacher at Texas School of The Arts in Edgecliff, Texas. She’s also the first winner of our law firm’s Teacher Of The Month award through our Teacher

FROM LAW SCHOOL TO LAW FIRM NICOLE’S LAW JOURNEY

Last summer, as she was going into her final year of law school, Nicole interned with The Button Law Firm as our law clerk. Her six weeks here were a big benefit to both sides: The Button Law team found their missing link, and Nicole found a passion for personal injury and trial law. “Her work was top-notch,” Attorney Russell Button says of Nicole. “When she left, it felt like we’d lost a team member. She’s a natural fit with us.” Based on that strong start, it’s no wonder Nicole plans to return to The Button Law Firm as she finishes up law school. While she’ll begin as a clerk, once she’s passed the bar, she’ll be an attorney alongside Russell and Ashley. “We have a future attorney on our hands,” Russell says. Nicole says law school has been a “really good experience,” and it’s prepared her to move in to the professional world. Civil liberty

and tort were especially interesting classes for Nicole, so it’s fitting that those are the areas The Button Law Firm practices. She also enjoyed participating in mock trials. “I knew I wanted at least one opportunity to get near the courtroom and really work with clients,” Nicole says of the experience. She’s looking forward to putting her skills to use for clients. “Practicing law is a mental exercise, and it’s exciting that you get to be creative in how you approach it,” Nicole says. “It utilizes a lot of my skills while challenging me.” Returning to the team at The Button Law Firm is something she’s also very excited for. “There’s an energy this firm has that I haven’t seen anywhere else,” Nicole says. “I’m enjoying working with the staff again and getting to see clients I worked with over the summer and how far their cases have come.” She adds, “It’s perfect timing. Everything is falling into place at the right time.” We couldn’t agree more! We look forward to working with Nicole in the next step of her journey in law and for many years to come!

IS YOUR DAY CARE HIRING QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES?

A Guide by Dallas Day Care Attorneys

5. Caring — this person comes to work not just for a check, but because they care about their job and the children they are supervising. It hurts us to know that the No. 1 cause of day care injuries is a lack of supervision, and that issue is rooted in facilities that do not hire qualified employees. It only takes a moment for a child’s life to be at risk. Let’s ask more of our day care facilities about higher standards and insist that they no longer compromise our children’s safety with inadequate hiring practices.

What if I told you there was one thing Texas day cares could do to ensure that fewer of our children are put at risk? Well, there is, and it’s a protocol that ALL day cares should follow: a thorough, comprehensive hiring process. This isn’t an unreasonable request. Day care facilities should follow a hiring process that assesses candidates for proper licensing and certification, as well as character, to ensure their candidates fully understand and can carry out their responsibilities to children and families. A thorough, well-researched hiring process can save lives. At a minimum, we should be able to expect that day care employees — people who care for a vulnerable population — possess these qualities: 1. A passion for kids. 2. Patience, particularly when it comes to caring for and interacting with children. 3. Anticipation of harmful child behaviors. Children should be supervised at all times so they don’t get hurt. 4. Honesty in all situations.

If you or a loved one would like more information on how to choose a safe day care, refer to our FREE resource guide, written by Dallas day care attorney Russell Button. Find his guide, “11 Tips To Help Parents Choose A Safe Daycare,” on our website, at https://www.buttonlawfirm.com/reports/how-to- search-for-a-good-day care.cfm.

HOW FRONT DESK OFFICE FURNITURE FINDS THE PERFECT FIT Front Desk Office Furniture has been serving Dallas-Fort Worth for 25 years and helping businesses and individuals find office furniture that fits their needs — and their space. From offices and conference rooms and break rooms to cubicles, Front Desk is there for you. Like The Button Law Firm, Front Desk is also getting a new location in 2019. Their new space is in Addison, Texas, a move Chelsea calls an “exciting change for us.” It will allow the mom and pop business to grow and best serve its customers, something they’ve been excelling at for the past 25 years. You can learn more about Front Desk Office Furniture at https://www. FrontDeskDallas.com/ or by stopping into their store.

Sales Manager Chelsea Crisford, whose dad, Jay Crisford, started the company and continues to be at the helm, says their space-planning service is one of the most important things they offer to customers — and they do it for free. “It’s so important when planning an office,” Chelsea says of space-planning. “We can show you how it’s going to look before you buy anything. Our customers can purchase with much more ease because they’re not buying blind. It’s our specialty.” Chelsea uses an office’s measurements and gets to work, drawing a floor plan on her computer and determining what will work best in the space. “I really enjoy helping customers figure out their design, colors, and how it will all work together. I enjoy working with all different types of people,” she says. “It’s fascinating to hear about what people do for a living and getting to know them to find out what fits their style.” Front Desk’s space-planning feature helped The Button Law Firm create the space they’d dreamed of for their new location. Attorney Russell Button describes feeling welcome from the first time he stepped in to Front Desk. “They greeted us immediately and let us walk around. They made sure we were okay but weren’t pushy. They gave us all the options, were efficient, and delivered on time. Their customer service is top-notch,” Russell says.
