Zoom, given that mentors and mentees were in the same building, sometimes even in neighbouring rooms, but it wasn’t detrimental to our goal of creating a successful mentoring scheme. In the history of Dulwich, nothing quite like this has ever been done before, as far as I am aware, and we are very pleased with the success of the scheme, as well as with the progress of our mentees. In Year 13, we passed on our legacy to current Year 12s who are either native speakers or are taking Spanish. They are choosing to focus on enhancing the knowledge of current keen Year 10s, rather than supporting Year 10s who are struggling. The Year 12s have done a fantastic job at improving what we started; they have chosen to work collectively as a group and to incorporate relevant news topics into their sessions in order to challenge the new mentees. Our success has also prompted the Upper School team to look at how similar mentoring groups can be set up for other subjects.
