adoption of the strategic plan in May 2025. The long-term plan is structured around three strategic pillars: providing core services, communicating and informing the community, and strengthening the organization. According to the report, administration reviewed a total of 40 milestones scheduled for completion or advancement during the 2025-2026 period. Of those initiatives, 11 were completed, representing 27.5 per cent of the total.

Another 15 initiatives, or 37.5 per cent, are currently in progress, while eight ongoing initiatives account for an additional 20 per cent. Four milestones have not yet started and two were identified as delayed. Overall, the municipality reported that 85 per cent of Year 1 initiatives are either completed, underway or ongoing. Among the key accomplishments highlighted in the report were foundational improvements in asset management, gover- nance practices and internal operations.

Major studies related to transportation and water and wastewater master planning are also currently underway. The report noted that several ongoing initiatives continue to focus on service delivery priorities, including accessibility, partnerships, and strategic reporting. Admi- nistration indicated that the few delays encountered were mainly linked to external factors or governance timing. The municipality also addressed organiza- tional capacity as part of the update, noting that administration continues to balance new initiatives and provincial requirements within existing staffing resources. According to the report, administration and the Human Resources Manager have completed an initial assessment of the municipality’s staffing structure to iden- tify operational efficiencies and support long-term business continuity. The review included comparisons with neighbouring municipalities and concluded that The Na- tion operates with a relatively lean workforce compared to similar jurisdictions. The first year of the strategic plan focused largely on building foundational capacity through financial planning, policy development, infrastructure planning, and organizational improvements. Administration stated it will continue advancing the remaining initiatives and provide annual progress reports to council to maintain accountability and alignment with the municipal budget process. “I’m very happy with the number that was in the report,” said Chief Administrative Officer Pierre Leroux. “We’re actively staying on track. The document itself aligns well with what council had envisioned and it allows us a roadmap moving forward.”

The Nation Municipality has completed or advanced the majority of initiatives outlined in the first year of its 2025- 2031 Strategic Plan, according to a progress report presented to council on May 11. The report provided council with an over- view of the municipality’s progress during the first year of implementation following the
