LIBRARY STORY A NEW CHAPTER: The grand opening of the Erin Public Library

LIBRARY STORY

“As the tallest building in our village, this library offers us a unique perspective,” said Dehn. “When you look out these windows at the grand views of the Erin Branch of the Credit River which powered the mill, you aren’t just looking at scenery; you are looking at the lifeblood of our heritage.” Families who owned the mill over the years also came out to celebrate the occasion, including the Kirkwood family, Paul Dudnick, and Fiddlin’ Sam Leitch with Family and Friends, who entertained the crowd with lively country tunes.

Leitch shared fond memories of being in the mill as a young boy when his father owned it. Be sure to check out the new Wellington County Library branch at 135 Daniel St., Erin. Peruse several floors of books, explore the children’s space, and take in the spectacular views from the top floor. It is truly a local treasure. The celebration was held on the top floor of the building, where guests could take in stunning views of Main Street in Erin Village on one side and the Credit River from the balcony on the other. Guests heard from several dignitaries, including Wellington County Warden Chris White, Wellington- Halton Hills MPP Joseph Racinsky, Erin Mayor Michael Dehn, Councillor Jamie Cheyne and others.
