unique vehicles change hands. Originally gaining traction for their focus on vintage cars, a few have since expanded their scope to include trucks, attracting a dedicated community of enthusiasts looking to buy and sell their prized vehicles. This shift has underscored a growing demand for high-quality trucks in exceptional condition that boast unique features and historical significance. This year Truck Rodeo enters this dynamic landscape with the aim of evolving that world, specifically catering to truck aficionados. Founded by a team of business startup veterans, gearheads, and creative makers, Truck Rodeo seeks to provide a curated marketplace where truck owners and buyers can connect, share stories, and trade their vehicles with confidence. “It’s free and we only post the best of the best,” founder Kyle Wortham explains with enthusiasm when asked about his new online truck marketplace. “You shouldn’t have to sell your $50,000 classic pickup on the same site you donated your sofa,” he jokes. Before launching Truck Rodeo, Wortham worked in branding. He brings that expertise to his new venture, and says a focus on content, partnerships, and events helps bring the trucks the site sells to life. The Rooted Journal asked him to curate a selection of classic farm trucks that might sit center stage at Truck Rodeo’s future events, where the scent of nostalgia runs thick with a combination of vintage leather, gasoline, and Old Spice cologne. We just wish we could drive these right off the page. — DUSTIN BEATTY

INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER TRAVELETTE
The International Harvester Travelette, a pioneering crew cab truck introduced in 1957, revolutionized team travel for ranch hands and work crews. Although the early models were basic and utilitarian, lacking many modern comforts, they represented a shift toward practicality and increased passenger capacity. Recently, the resurgence in popularity of these iconic trucks has been highlighted by record-breaking auction prices, with a crew cab model fetching an astonishing $300,000. This remarkable price tag underscores the enduring appeal and cultural significance of the International Harvester Travelette among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
CHEVY DUALLY
The first Chevy Dually truck in 1973 radically evolved ranching and towing capabilities for pickup trucks. The Dually’s configuration — featuring dual rear wheels on each side — enabled ranchers to haul heavy cattle trailers with enhanced stability and towing capacity, reducing the need for larger semis or traditional horse-and-cowboy methods. Chevy’s innovation with the Dually changed the game, setting the stage for subsequent iterations and advancements. Over the years, these trucks have undergone numerous improvements and refinements, solidifying their place as essential workhorses in agriculture and towing industries.
