BACK PAIN IS NO JOKE!
Could Your Back Pain Be Caused by Sciatica?
will quickly develop an individualized treatment plan aimed at relieving tension on the sciatic nerve and providing you with relief. Sciatica is commonly treated through manual methods, such as massage and stretching, but additional modalities (such as ice/heat therapy, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation) may also be added into your treatment plan as deemed fit by your physical therapist. At the end of the day, our physical therapists will do what is best for your specific needs to help alleviate the inflammation on your sciatic nerve and get you back to living life without persistent pain.
April Fool’s Day may be right around the corner, but at The Physiotherapy Center LTD., we know that back pain is no joke. It can sometimes be difficult to determine the cause of back pain, but sciatica is a common culprit. Sciatica develops when the sciatic nerve (which, by the way, is the longest nerve in your body!) becomes inflamed. This can result in painful or tingling sensations in the lower back, buttocks, thighs, or legs. Additionally, sciatica can make certain movements difficult. If you have been living with back pain and you think it could be caused by sciatica, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment with us today! We’ll be happy to see you and figure out the root of your pain - so you can get back to living life comfortably ASAP.

7 TIPS TO AVOID ACHES & PAINS IN THE GARDEN
1. Warm up before you garden. A 10 minute brisk walk and stretches for the spine and limbs are good ways to warm up. 2. Change positions frequently to avoid stiffness or cramping. 3. Make use of a garden cart or wheelbarrow to move heavy planting materials or tools. Be sure to keep your back straight while using a wheelbarrow. 4. If kneeling on both knees causes discomfort in your back, try kneeling on one and keep the other foot on the
ground. Use knee pads or a gardening pad when kneeling. 5. If kneeling or leaning down to the ground causes significant pain in your back or knees, consider using elevated planters to do your gardening. 6. Avoid bending your wrist upwards when pulling things or using gardening tools. Instead, keep your wrist straight and use your shoulder muscles to pull and lift. 7. End your gardening session with some gentle backward bending of your low back, a short walk and light stretching, similar to stretches done before starting.
