Townsend; maternal grandparents, Tommie Sr. and Lucille McCullough; uncle, Tommie McCullough Jr.; and beloved com- panion, Bentley. He is survived by his faithful, loving wife, Theresa (née Armstrong) Townsend and daughter Jazsmyn; his parents; brother, Marcus Townsend, father and mother in-law, Larry and Garnetta Armstrong; uncle, Ricky Townsend; aunt, Ruthie Boyd; sisters-in-law, Marshell Harris, Sheri and Teri Armstrong and Kim Townsend; brothers-in-law, Larry Armstrong Jr. and Marcus Jones; nephews, Brandon and Jalen Townsend (Alpha Omicron 2017); special cousins, Brent, Brian and Tommy McCullough and Darlene Hodges; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi.
Brother Tribue received a teacher’s license, and began his career in Char- lotte-Mecklenburg Schools where he taught science. He was employed at both Northwest Junior High School and Smith Junior High School. He also coached the basketball, football and golf teams with his teams reflecting his core values of dedication, determination and diligent pursuit of excellence. He served as president of the Classroom Teachers Association, and in retire- ment, provided lunches for Association members. He was a member of Grace AME Zion Church in Charlotte, where he served as a steward and Trustee. Brother Tribue was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and golf. He was a founding member of the Charlotte Golfing Seniors and designed the organi- zation’s logo. Brother Tribue also served as the first corresponding secretary of the group. Brother James D. Tribue is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace (Jones); daughter Angela L. Tribue (Robert A. Pete McDaniel); sons Jason K. Tribue and Stanley E. Tribue (LaKeasha Hart); uncle Freddie Martin; aunt Annell Mar- tin Wright; grandchildren Darius Mad- dox, Charl Tribue and Jaden Cleveland; a host of cousins and friends. Jason Townsend entered the Chapter Invisible on Friday, January 31, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 46. Affec- tionately known
James D. Tribue 1926–2018 Educator, Coach, U.S. Army
as “J-Smarts”, Jason Maurice Townsend was born on April 23, 1973, in Ander- son, IN to Wayne and Eula Townsend. He attended Anderson Community Schools and graduated from Anderson High School. After graduating high school in 1991, Townsend attended Indiana University-Bloomington (IU). While in college, he joined the fraternity as a 1993 initiate of the Indiana Univer- sity-Bloomington Chapter, the Alpha of Kappa Alpha Psi®. He also participated in campus organization called F.A.S.E (Faculty and Staff for Student Excel- lence). He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications from IU in 1997. He subsequently earned an MBA degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2002. Professionally, Townsend worked at sev- eral corporations including Delco Remy America, Chrysler, Janssen, Medtronic and Pfizer where he was named repre- sentative of the year in 2004. He was currently employed by Taiho Oncology Inc. as an oncology account manager and was a member of the Anderson
James D. Tribue was born in Quincy, FL., to the late Nathan and Clara Martin Tribue. He gradu- ated from Quincy, FL’s Stevens High School in 1944 as valedictorian of
his class. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL. His education was interrupted when he was drafted into the Army, and served a tour of duty in Germany. Brother Tribue returned to FAMU after com- pleting his military obligation. While attending FAMU, he was initiated into the Alpha Xi Chapter, November 18, 1947. Brother Tribue graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science. He later earned a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from New York University.

July 4, 1933 to the late Alma Butler Holmes and the late William Triggs. He and his siblings grew up in a small community called Lafourche Crossing, a place where he shared many of their childhood adventures. After graduating from C. M. Washington High School
