Mrs. Anesia Hayes, Principle Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary 3275 N. 3rd St Milwaukee WI 53212

Principle Hayes,

On behalf of the members of the North Central Province, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., thank you for participating in the pilot of our national partnership with Room to Read . It was my distinct pleasure, along with 10 other members of Kappa Alpha Psi, to visit the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School during our recent C.R. Wilson Leadership Conference, and read to your classrooms. The greeting we received from you, your staff, and the students could not have been warmer. Each of the brothers that read books and witnessed the students' attention, participation, and enthusiasm were touched in a special way by the experience. As we noted, our undergraduate members from Marquette University will be returning to your school for more reading events in the new year. As part of supporting your reading program, we requested members within our 5 state region to bring books for donation to your early readers. Although we did not complete the count, our best estimate was over 1,500 books were donated. In addition to the books, we wanted to support your reading program with a cash donation. So, from the donations of our members, please find our check for $1,400.00. Hopefully the books and cash will help as you re-build your school library. Please extend our appreciation to the students and staff for allowing us to share a few moments in your classrooms.

Sincerely,

Byron C. Thornton 24th Polemarch North Central Province Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
